Clinical Cases
Every day, we have patients enquiring about invisible braces
Very few dentists can address the patients needs and deliver a truly aesthetic orthodontic treatment. . Conventional lingual brackets are expensive and require high skill levels(education), as a result they are only undertaken by specialist orthodontists. Due to theadditional expense of the brackets and associated costs to the orthodontist, patients are oftencharged up to three times more than conventional orthodontics. The costs, coupled with apainful treatment for the tongue and months of impaired speech, questions are asked whetherorthodontics with conventional lingual brackets are truly an aesthetic treatment.
invisible braces techniques such as Invisalign® are gaining popularity due to the current extensive media campaign but dentists are not only discovering that most of the fee charged to the patient goes to the company manufacturing and promoting the product but also, not all cases can be effectively treated. “An aesthetic treatment is a treatment not only that has a low visual impact to other people, but a treatment whereby other people dont know the patient has something in their mouth. When undertaking and prescribing invisible orthodontic treatments, I need to ensure that my patients can speak normally throughout the treatment. From my experience, 2D lingual brackets do not impede speech.
Dr. Olivier Labat
The Forestadent 2D lingual bracket is a very low profile, mesh pad bracket with a simple wing. It was created by world renowned French Orthodontist Julien Phillipe, initially for post treatment retention. Unlike conventional lingual brackets, there is no torque in the bracket and therefore, only round arch wires are usually used during treatment.
Forestadent 2D will not replace conventional brackets in your practice BUT once you have used them in a few simple cases, you will be surprised at how your confidence grows in not only treating patients with 2D brackets but also in and how accepting your patients are of this truly invisible orthodontic treatment. Of course, through word-of-mouth and basic marketing such as before and after photos in the waiting room, orthodontics in your practice will grow, especially for adults who are generally reluctant to undertake conventional buccal brackets yet desire someorthodontic attention.

The Forestadent 2D brackets are probably the best answer I can give to my adult patients with simple problems, looking for maximum aesthetics and minimum discomfort at affordable price. These brackets provide a simple effective orthodontic treatment to many patients who would not prescribe to a conventional treatment with buccal brackets. . As a clinician, I enjoy offering this treatment for select cases and I am continually encouraged by the results achieved. I am sure it is technique you will love, even if you are in inexperienced in lingual orthodontics.
